Web Start error message.

Ubuntu 9.04

When I go to the folder I have the sweethome application in and right click the SweetHome3D icon and choose to open with 'Sun Java 6 Web Start' I get a short Java 6 splash screen and then the message “Unable to launch application”.

If I am on the download page of SweetHome and click the “Launch SweetHome with Java web Start” it opens just fine. http://www.sweethome3d.eu/download.html.

I couldn't find anything in the FAQ section dealing with this.

Any help would be appreciated. Bob.

Re: Web Start error message.

Did you figure out the solution to your problem?
Did you download the application? If so, you don't need the Java Web Start and you don't need to right click. If you have Java installed correctly on your system, the app should launch when you click on the executable file named, "SweetHome3D" (without quote marks. In the "File Type" section of your file viewer, it should say that it is a "Shell Script")

Re: Web Start error message.

I have found that file but when I run the application and try to print or do anything in the file menu I get a fatal error in the rendering system message saying it needs to shut down.

Very frustrating.

Re: Web Start error message.

Can you post the exact error message? Then maybe Emmanuel (the developer) might see it and tell you more.

Re: Web Start error message.

I guess bbrazie's bug is the same as
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&...id=152568&atid=784665
But it should happen only for print and preferences menu items, not for File > Open and File > Save menu items.

Re: Web Start error message.

If I read the bug thread then it seems that there is no fix?

Re: Web Start error message.

In case you didn't notice, this is a very old thread.
I would suggest to try SweetHome3D or SweetHome3D-Java3D-1_5_2 scripts in Sweet Home 3D installer.
