Problem with importing 3D-models from "Archive3D.net"!
Hi there!
Today I tried to import some 3D models from the website "archive3d.net" into my SweetHome3D program but I had some difficulties... Maybe some of you had the same problem and can help me now? So, first of all I think the file format of these pieces of furniture are all right: You import them in a zip format, so this should actually work. But as soon as I import them, the colors aren't right anymore, so e.g. plants that were green before are then all of a sudden grey; or bed sheets that were red on the picture of the website appear to be yellow or again grey in SweetHome3D... It seems that the right textures and colors don't "come with" the package of furniture if you know what I mean.
What did I do wrong? I mean, it "should" be possible to import 3D models - others have done it too, right? =) It would be great if somebody could help me out here. I really want to work with more beautiful 3D-models than those that come with SweetHome3D.

Hi) Archive3d.net is my favorite, but 3d-models from this website sometimes has no any texture in the archive. So for myself I found the way to avoid any problem with importing models in SH3D: I'm open 3d-models in Deep Exploration, than apply some textures if needed, than save files and upload them to SH3D. This way always work to me)) And in Deep Exploration I can make some customisations in to the 3d-models in itt's shape, not only in texture changing.

What's exactly a "Deep Exploration"?
If it isn't a problem, could u make a tutorial to me? I'm looking for more models to my SH3D, but always when I download one, it comes without any texture, then, it puts me down and I give up.. If you can try to explain me how to import models from archive3d.net to SH3D I'll be so gratefully!
(Sorry about my english, think it's so bad, but I tried, If you couldn't understand something, please tell me and I'll find another way to express myself)

JCzass, if I were you, I would avoid archive3d.net. Their models are nice, but it might make take you a lot of time to find a good model if you're not used to edit materials and textures of an object. Prefer the Collada models available on Google Warehouse.

There isn't any tutorial explaining how to import models from Archive3D.net? Cause their models are so really nice and I want them.
I'm always seen screen shots that people post here at the forum and having much ideas, but when I open my SH3D and note that I won't have the models necessary to work on my idealized project... I get discouraged.
So... If you can help me in this journey I'll be so much grateful. Thanks again.

Hi, thank you for all your answers =)
Oxygen, I have a question about the program "Deep Exploration". So I have downloaded it, and I was even able to open (in my case) a pretty fireplace so that it was ready to be modified. My problem is now: I wanted of course to apply textures as you said you do it, and I was capable to do this with the textures there are already IN the program. But I didn't find any function where I could sort of import my own favorite textures, you know? It would be great if you could help me here. I'd just love to look for textures myself and then import and in the end apply them. Thanks in advance ;-)

I have the same problem with 3d models from archive3d.net. The models which I downloaded from this website didn't show the right colors when I imported them into SH3D. Please help me to fix this problem. I read all the comment above and I don't understand Deep Exploration, what is it? And how to install it? Thanks so much!

farfalla95, so look at my pictures and I hope it will be helpful to you)) The first you must open the tab named "Materials" than right-click on the material you want to change: 1 by pixie Xu, on Flickr
This will open the window - you must choose the "Material Properties":
After that you must choose the tab "Maps" to change the texture of the material. You can browse your folders and apply any needed material. 3 by pixie Xu, on Flickr
For the change of location or size of your choosen texture you must work with this window. All the results you can see immediately on the screen with your 3d-model. Also you can change sizes or the locations of the parts of 3d-models and make some othe operations with them. Also you can convert 3d-files to the desired format for the uploading them to SH3D. So the quick result of my texture-changing: 5 by pixie Xu, on Flickr
tuyethulis, Deep Exploration is a paying program for vewing 3-d files in a many formats. About installation - it insalls on your hard-drive like any other program, it's basics
[Note from moderator: fixed information about Deep Exploration]

Oxygen, thanks so much for your instruction with pictures and your explanation about Deep Exporation. Could you please send me a link to download Deep Exporation (the same version with your version so that I can follow your instruction) Sorry if I bothered you, I am not really good at computer and software (crying ...)

tuyethulis, I use "Deep Exploration CAD-Edition", and it's a paid program. You must go to any store with computer programs and buy it than install on your comp.
