Re: Origin and scale of measurements?
|
Thank you, but I needed to get it working for me yesterday. I simply started over again, copying all the walls from the first try.
I then pasted the walls so they started at offset 0,0. It worked great from there.
Almost everything about this program worked once I figured it out, and it was very easy to model our living room and its furniture. I downloaded and imported two pieces of furniture when the range of builtin furniture was not sufficient. I'm very pleased and plan to make a small financial donation when our project is done.
I have started recommending Sweet Home to others. I love using Sweet Home 3D!
The only feature that doesn't work well is the lighting. The 3D view doesn't show any lighting effects, and the "photo" rendering makes the shadows too sharp, which makes the view too full of glare. Also, the rendering is very slow (the tradeoff between rendering speed and lighting effects is not good). The lighting is much better in at least one of your competitors (blophome.com).
Also, the 3D view is off-center, with no way to center it.
My recommendation to the developer is to ship the product with several examples, a simple one with one room, walls, and a few pieces of furniture, and a complex and realistic one with several rooms. When the user first opens Sweet Home, it should already show the simple example, so that users can use it and modify it as a starting point, to get familiar with it. The Help pages are not good enough.
