sad Objects with texture

I have made some furniture in "Sketchup" and some people in "Makehuman"but when I try and import them they loose their texture.
I have tried various formats OBJ and DAE but the only difference is grey or clay colour. What have I done wrong.

Re: Objects with texture

DAE and OBJ models come with a separate directory for the textures. If you move the model, you should move the directory as well so that the relative path stays the same.
If you don't do that, the model will be white.

Re: Objects with texture

The easiest, I guess, is not to move anything before using Import Furniture in SH3D. That is, import them from where you originally saved the DAE or OBJ files...

If you need to move them,
OBJ requires:
xxx.obj (the .obj file itself)
xxx.mtl (specifies the materials used)
xyz.jpg / xzz.png (texture files referenced in the .mtl file)

DAE requires:
xxx.dae (the .dae file)
and usually a directory with the same name (xxx or whatever) with texture files (.jpg/.png/.gif)

So if you go to your export directory and select the above and move them together, it should work.

ok

Re: Objects with texture

And to complete okh good suggestion, once imported in Sweet Home 3D, you can then move or even delete the downloaded files.

Is there a MTL file corresponding to the texture/material files available directly from SH3D?

Re: Objects with texture

3D View > Export to OBJ format menu item creates an OBJ file from the current home + a MTL file + images for the textures it needs.
