Align the walls
Hello,
Is it possible in a future version to add an option to be able to align walls as it is currently possible to align objects? I think for example, when we can put several walls in parallel to simulate the different insulators.

You can use the X and Y coordinates when you modify a wall. Not really alignment but at least you can force the walls to align horizontal or vertical. You can also use the Move function from the AdvancedEdit plugin to move walls with precise numbers.

Thank you for your response, I already use the AdvancedEdit plugin. For now, I work around the problem as follows. I copy/paste a wall then I zoom in as much as possible to separate them as closely as possible

What do you mean by "separate them as closely as possible"?
If you want to use the copy/paste way try it like this: Select a wall, Copy, deselect the wall, Paste. Because you deselected the original wall the pasted wall is at the exact same position as the original wall. While the pasted wall is still selected use the Move function or the X,Y coordinates to move the pasted wall.
Using this method there is no "as close as possible" since you can place the wall exactly where you want.

I think jllh76 is talking about aligning the walls face to face. Conceptually maybe "Align side by side", but for walls.

That would make the copy/paste/move option exactly what is needed.
For the multiple wall layers it's important to know how walls are measured in Sweet Home 3D. In this case the wall thickness of each layer is important. The X and Y coordinates are the coordinates for the center of each end of the wall. This means that the left side of a 10cm vertical wall is at X-5 and the right side is at X+5. For a horizontal wall use the Y coordinates.
So if you have a wall 10 thick and paste a copy at the exact same position you move that copy 10 to align them side by side. But if you paste a copy and change the thickness to 5 you have to move the wall (10÷2)+(5÷2)=7.5 to align them against each other (half of each wall). You can add 7.5 to both X coordinates for a vertical wall and both Y coordinates for a horizontal wall or use the Move function from the AdvancedEdit plugin. If you want a gap between the walls you add the gap width to the number you calculated.
You can change the top pattern for each wall to see the different layers in the 2Dview. For the 3Dview you can set a different color. This is useful if you align walls side by side against each other. Without changing the pattern and color it will just look like a single thick wall. It's also a good way to mark walls, insulation, etc throughout the full plan.

That sounds really complicated. Someone should invent something to do all that without all of those laborious manual calculations. A calcu... No! I've got it! A computer!!! /s

It does sound complicated when you have to write it down but once you do it a few times it becomes second nature and you can do it almost automatically. It's not like you can't move a few more centimeters if you got it wrong the first time
