Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes

It's been about a year since I've posted anything. As mentioned in my last posting a year ago, I've gone back to college and have been busy with some sewing projects. I have also been goofing around a little with an online AI art generator (NightCafé), and with that I got inspired back in April to create a couple of houses based off a couple of those generated images. The only reason I haven't posted about them until now is because I had been out of state, and away from my computer, from the middle of May to the middle of August, for both business and pleasure. Neither of these AI-inspired designs have a name but a designation.

As before, I'm not sure why but I'm no longer able to embed images into my posts but I can include the links to the them.

The first AI-generated image is this. I've designated my house design based on it as NCAI240403, which is just the initial design idea and not completely fleshed out. I have, of course, made two alternate versions with some separate modifications: NCAI240403a and NCAI240403b (which I just got through working on yesterday). I don't have any photos of the initial design, but I do have some for NCAI240403a here, and more thoroughly for NCAI240403b here.

The second AI-generated image is this. I've designated my design as NCAI240428, and an alternate version as NCAI240428a. They both have 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and 2 stories, but they are configured a little differently and I've made the garage areas different sizes. Here are the pictures for NCAI240428, and here are the pictures for NCAI240428a,

As you can see, they are both based on U.S. Mid-Century Modern styles. In my opinion, they all have their own unique qualities.

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes

hi. A very interesting experience. I have studied everything carefully. I have a question. So far, I see that the initial random generation of artificial intelligence can only be used as an exercise. But do you think it's possible to get a more useful initial image? After all, the house does not stand in an empty flat field. Every house is a difficult task, there are many factors. Other houses nearby, landscape, SHAPE and size of the plot. Existing communications. The customer's budget and, as a result, the choice of technology. Is it possible to get the right start from Artificial Intelligence with the help of a competent query if you need to design a real house in a real place? Or is this not possible in architecture? I tried to play on the site and didn't see any prospects. What do you think? Yes, this toy is suitable for teaching the basics of design. And for real work?

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes

Hello again, all.

Once again, I turned to AI-generated inspiration. This time, my text prompt was "1930s Tudor Revival fantasy house", and "1930s Tudor Revival fantasy house porch". I wanted to get two pictures for inspiration; one for the front view and one for the back view. As before, I'm only going with outside views, mainly because any time I've tried to get the AI website to generate a floor plan, it comes up with something unusable.

I'm using this one for the front of the house.

This one could be used for the front of a house, but when I first saw it I thought it would work very well as the inspiration for the back of my house.

Just a head's up with what I've created so far: I've mostly worked on the exterior, with only a small amount done on the interior. I will get more done, probably in the next few days I think. The only lighting I've added to any part of the house is in kitchen.

Main level screenshot. The only rooms that are basically done (although I might still work a bit on them) are the kitchen and the powder room, although I have some bookcases and rugs placed in a few of the rooms.

Since I mentioned it in regards to the last picture, here's what the kitchen currently looks like.

And here's what I have for the powder room.

Top level screenshot. I've got the basic floor plan, but nothing's been furnished here yet.

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes

After posting this house last night, something about the kitchen just didn't quite work in my mind. For one thing, there isn't any natural light coming in, and then there's the hallway between the kitchen and the dining area of the great room. In order to get this to work better, I've also moved the stairs closer to the front door, which also meant that I've had to move the door frame going into the living area of the great room. And, since I want to keep the double doors into the family room even with that door frame, I've moved those as well. Then there's the double doors into the sun room, which I also wanted to stay even with the other two, which I also moved. And because of the changes on the main level I've had to make a few changes to a few things on the top level.

Here's what I have for the remodeled kitchen, with the changes. You can see that I don't have any lighting anywhere else, with how dark the dining area is as well as that little bit of the foyer.

Another thing, although it's not directly about this house, but I'm currently in Florida using a laptop with a version of the software that I've downloaded only a small amount of the furniture libraries instead of robust furniture library I have on my home desktop computer at home in California. Because of this it's likely to take me longer to work on this house than usual because of having to download from the files I've saved on MediaFire from 3D Warehouse, as well as possibly downloading new furniture from 3D Warehouse.

Once I've gotten more done to the house I'll share more pictures.

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes

Here's something that the AI website I've been using generated as a "house floor plan".

As you can see, it's going to take a bit to figure out what it is that I'm seeing, what space is what room, etc. Some spaces seem obvious, others... not so much. Plus, what would the house actually look like rendered in three dimensions.

I might try to come up with something...

On that website, I can use a previous rendering to create similar ones. I've done that with that last picture and I think I have something a little more usable (I think?) version.

At least I HOPE that it's more usable...

Oh! Here's one that might actually work better. At least, I think it would, maybe.

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes

Since posting those images earlier, I came up with something that I think works out alright with that last image. Mind you, it is nowhere near complete; the basic exterior is pretty much done, but barely anything inside -- except the labeling of each space as well as the placement of doors.

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes

That is a great floorplan layout. Easily adaptable for alternatives as variations in a neighborhood. For example a smaller version with the left two bedrooms cut-of. Very well done.

Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes

Keet, that's a good idea; I might try and see how that works, but likely later.

I've been working on furnishing the house. This is what I have so far.

The Great Room. The first picture is from the front door, and the second is from the sliding doors to the back porch.

The Kitchen. The first picture is from in front of the Office, and the second is from the Dining Room.

The Dining Room, from the Kitchen.
