Help with texture alignment, please?

Some background information that may be relevant…

For my project, I’m creating, not a window, but the >illusion< of a window. Think of maybe a picture that creates the illusion of a window view.

I created a window frame & what will appear to be the glass out of walls (Each of these only has one material name, as I didn’t see a need to create multiple sides for either.), exported each as an object, then imported each back into SH3D as pieces of furniture.
The frame isn’t the problem. That was easy. I selected the appropriate single color, and it looks fine.

For the ‘window’, I imported a picture of space I found online. The goal was to have this space-scape in several windows in the same room. I don’t now recall exactly how it happened, but when I modified the ‘window’ with the texture space-scape, it distorted in a way where it became a blue/purple blur running horizontally. This was a happy accident, as it looked as if one was passing a nebula at warp speed!
I grouped the ‘window’ and the frame, exported them together, then imported them back in as one object.

I soon realized I didn’t set them up correctly. I think I made the window too big or the frame too small or both, as you could see the dark edge of the ‘window’ sticking out through the edge of the frame.
This bugged me so I decided to recreate the ‘window’ & frame. Unfortunately, I accidentally deleted my original work file where I had the pieces for this, so now I have to recreate them.

I did it the same way but changed some of the dimensions to avoid that problem this time. The problem I’m having is that now I’m trying to reapply the space-scape texture to the ‘window’, the distortion is there and that’s fine, but it’s now running vertically. I thought this would be a simple adjustment. Just modify the object, and alter the X, Y, offsets, angle, or scale, but nothing I’ve done is getting the distorted image to run horizontally again. Can anyone help me out with this, please?

Re: Help with texture alignment, please?

Window and image should have the same proportions.
- window 200x400 cms = ratio of 2:4
- image 400x800 pixels = ratio of 2:4
- result: image will fit perfectly without odd borders or distortion

Re: Help with texture alignment, please?

Hey, apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Thank you for the info! I'm working with this now. I've always had some trouble with understanding sizing and resolution. Hopefully I'll work this out soon.
