Can't modify walls
I just downloaded the software (7.5.35) and watched some tutorials. I drew out the walls for a room and added dimensions. But when I try to modify the wall height (either by double-clicking a wall or right-clicking and selecting modify walls) and hit "OK", it takes me to the upgrade page for the Pro version.FWIW, if I hit "OK" without making any changes, it returns me to the layout.
My plan is not locked and the features that I am trying to modify (height and wall width) are not greyed out.

You probably have accidentally locked the plan. In the top left corner of the 2D view there is a tiny lock. If it is closed you have locked the base plan which means that objects that have the "Part of base plan" property checked are locked. Some objects like walls, rooms, doors&windows have this property set by default. It means they can't be changed while the plan is locked. That is often useful when you have finished the base plan and start to fill your home with furniture. Click the lock to unlock the base plan (or Menu > Plan > Unlock base plan).
ETA I missed that you have NOT locked the plan. The only other thing I can think of is that you try to edit while you have an invisible level active. Make sure that the tab of the level you are on is not grayed out, i.e. invisible. Depending on the level elevations and heights you can still see walls and windows but the active tab must be visible. That should not make a difference for walls but doors&windows can't be edited on an invisible level. As always on Windows: if nothings seems to work save your project, reboot, and try again. (I assume you can edit other furniture?)

Thanks Keet. No other levels. Can't modify properties on anything. I tried a new project this morning and it still didn't work so I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and it seems to work now. Fingers crossed that it was just some freak problem with the original installation.

It might be a problem with the app store version. I don't use Windows myself and always use the Linux version from the Download page. Never had any problems with it. There is also a Windows version so you can try that one (free download). That one might not have the nagging "Pro" popup. As far as I know "Pro" only means that more models are included in the installer. Since you can download and import models and libraries anyway that makes no difference. Everything is available on the 3D models page and the external links offer even more models and libraries (like dodecagon.nl ).
Before that you should check if you have enough permissions when you install and/or run the the program. You probably need administrator rights for the install, I'm not sure about running the program. Also check this post about other programs that possibly interfere with the correct execution of Sweet Home 3D.

Yay! I downloaded from the Sourceforge link (it is v7.5) and everything works (so far)! I can modify walls and furniture and import furniture. As an added bonus, that upgrade window doesn't pop up all the time and it only includes the free furniture options. Thanks!
