material questions

Hi all, i'm new here, just found your great software and i'm loving it. I'm making a few tests with some models and i cant find docs about how to setup the materials and ilumination of your scene. I use blender for a long time now and i've used sunflow with blender in the past, so my question is how can i setup a model with sunflow materials? and where can i upload it to share with the comunity?

i was trying to add this model http://www.paulogomes.co.cc/cadeiras-versace-linha-unique/ (please dont mind the site, is under development) and i was wonder how a can i do the inox material and the bump map?

If someone is using blender and SweetHome3D, can you please describe your workflow?

Thanks for your time,

Paulo Gomes

Re: material questions

Paulo:

SH3D is a relatively simple 3D design program. Its main purpose is to design in 2D a home interior, which is then "automagically" shown in 3D. The main focus of the program (as I see it) is user-friendliness. So, if a requested feature is too complex for the average user, chances are it doesn't get implemented in the program.

That said, the program has seen a very strong development over the last year and many new features have been added. As to rendering, new lights have been made, and a few plug-ins have been written that greatly improve the basic rendering that's provided by the "bare" program. Even so, the program is no match for programs like Blender, that offer movie-quality features and rendering options, albeit at the price of a rather steep learning curve.

If you like the program for its ease of use, you might consider using it to make your design, and then switch to a program like Blender to add sophisticated lighting, textures, bump maps, reflection, ray tracing, etc. The Export as OBJ function in SH3D enables you to do so.

Maybe, tomorrow morning I shall try to elaborate my answer and provide (back-)links to articles in this forum where you can find the plug-ins (but feel free to search for yourself for SH3P ).
