Hi

I have downloaded Home3D Windows installer, and install it in E:\Program Files\Sweet Home 3D.

Now if I move the content of "Sweet Home 3D" folder, to other computer will it run ? Do i need any other files?
On the other words, is Sweet Home 3D, portable ?!

Regards,
Alireza Fattahi

Re: Portability

I'm guessing it will work, except the automatic open of SH3D Files, because this is not registered on your computer.

I tried to move the folder on same computer and everything still works. So if you have installed the java on the new computer it should work...

Re: Portability

Hampi, you don't have to install Java when you installed Sweet Home 3D with its installer, because that version is coming with a copy of the Java Runtime Environment (except under Mac OS X where Java is always preinstalled).

Alireza, you can move the folder where Sweet Home 3D is installed to an other computer, but you'll loose:
- the associations between Sweet Home 3D and SH3D, SH3F, SH3T and SH3L file extensions,
- the preferences you set in the program,
- the 3D models and textures you imported in Sweet Home 3D catalog.

If you really cares about portability, try one of the portable versions available on the Internet.
Please read also the FAQ How can I transfer the furniture I imported on an other computer? that might interest you.

Re: Portability

Thanks,

I found that lost imported models are saved in C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\eTeks\Sweet Home 3D

Is it possible that we configure SweetHome3D to use other folder as its home.

For example the current folder which it is already installed!

Re: Portability

You can't configure an other folder at this time.
Note that portability feature is part of Sweet Home 3D roadmap.
