using dwg files

I have a dwg file of a floor plan that I would like to use in sh3d. Can anyone tell me if there is any way to use this existing drawing as a base rather than reproducing it from scratch?

Thank you,

Mike

Re: using dwg files

You should export your DWG file to a format supported by Sweet Home 3D, meaning OBJ, DAE/Collada, 3DS or LWS format, and import it as a piece of furniture.
But don't expect that the walls, floors and ceilings defined in your file will be handled as walls and rooms in Sweet Home 3D.

Re: using dwg files

Michael,

There is no direct way to import DWG files into SH3D, not as a basis for further drawing, nor as a background image.
You can try to import a DWG file into Blender, then export it as an OBJ file, which in turn can be imported into SH3D. Note, however, that such an OBJ file cannot be edited in SH3D, because it will function as if it were a piece of furniture.
