An user selectable option to invert the up/down mouse movement in the 3D view.
It would be great to move the "object" both in X and Y direction instead of as now move the object in X direction and move the view-point in Y direction.
I understand it certainly must be a user preference, but it is very annoying if used to one method.

Re: 3D view mouse up/down direction
Could you give more details about X / Y direction move? Sorry, but I really don't understand what you mean.

In the 3D view window I can move my eyepoint to view e.g. a room from different directions.
The currently function is: If I hold left mouse-button down and move the mouse left, then I move the eyepoint to right. But if I move the mouse up, then I move my eyepoint up. I.e. up/down has the moving eyepoint logic, while left/right has the moving object logic.
What I'm used to and would like is following as an user preference: 3D CAD drawing systems typical has moving object logic in both X and Y direction. That is if move the mouse up, then the eyepoint should move down. If move the mouse left, then the eyepoint should move right. I.e. for my preference left/right movement is currently fine, while the up/down movement should be inverted.

Re: 3D view mouse up/down direction
100% agree! The 3D up/down navigation is very strange at the moment. An option/preference for switching the directions (separate for X and Y) would be nice.

Re: 3D view mouse up/down direction
Yes, I agree the visitor controls are initially confusing (I have been using this program for a couple of weeks now and still cannot become used to them).
I used to play many video games (all of which have basic standard controls) when I was younger and instinctively wanted to use W to walk forward, S to walk backward, A to step to the left, D to step to the right and the mouse to guide my view - if i looked right (by moving my mouse, which moved my 'eyes') and stepped forward (using 'W'), I would be walking around to the right.
The finer details are always slightly different in each video game (but each always allows user to modify all key and mouse behaviour), and my memory may be rusty on some of the macro details, but the basic premise is the same - mouse for view and keys for movement - and would make Sweet Home 3D appear seamless if it used similar controls in visitor mode.

Re: 3D view mouse up/down direction
I already reversed the rotation direction towards up / down in aerial view mode in version 3.5, in the hope it would satisfy the initial request in this thread.
awiklendt, what I don't get is that W S A D keys are already assigned in the 3D view, as you seem to want. The small difference might be that A and D keys make the point of view turn left or right, and not move left or right.
