Emmanuel,

Fast test under Ubuntu 12.10:
- text rotation works well for floor and floor surface, text, object name.
- directory names are remembered correctly.

I couldn't test the rest.

Will there be a update for Ubuntu Software Center or Ubuntu's Update Manager?

I have several people using the program; some have windows, some have MacOS and some have Ubuntu. Unfortunately, the windows and Mac computer have version 3.6. The Ubuntu computers have 3.4. This causes problems.

I tried downloading the Linux installer but it does not really intall. It just seems to unpack into a subdirectory. :)

I don't manage the update for Ubuntu Software Center myself. Please contact them and see how an update works. If you find information, don't hesitate to share it here.

This is too vague to guess what is your issue here. Are you a teacher with students? Are you a manager with designers?
Wouldn't the new portable version of Sweet Home 3D more efficient in your case?

The deb distribution would be the one for
Ubuntu. But I did not see that anywhere on the download page. I still do not see it.
