I just made this last week, it is very compact (actually it is a photo of a mouse-pad found in a backstreet shop in Barcelona). But it does convey the feeling of an oriental carpet, very similar to my grandmother's that was stolen from my flat a couple of years ago.

Re: carpets for "Sweet home 3D"
1 - Find a rug - here 2 - Insert a box in your design and give it the correct dimensions, e.g. 200x300x1 cms 3 - Import the image of the rug as a texture - Modify furniture -> Materials -> Modify -> Top -> Texture -> Import
That´s it.

Yes, lots of options. Good selection of nice designs. Beware of image (rug) file sizes, though. If your favourite design is a large file, that file could bloat the size of your model. In which case you can edit and downscale it with an image editor (and adjust the scaling).

It's not a good solution, because the two floor layers may visually interact and cause a moire effect. However, the program won't crash. Using a box as described above is better.

Hans, sorry to contradict you, but drawing rooms upon other rooms don't cause the moire effect you describe (otherwise it's a bug and that should be fixed)! But, joannaslinky, note that you can use the tip you mention only for carpets with a plain color. If you set a texture on the room-carpet, there are a lot of chances that the border of the texture image won't match the border of the room.
