How to insert a roof window?

Hi,

I've been using SW for some time now, and still think it's even better than some expensive softwares... It can do almost anything one might think of ;)

I'm only out of my depth when it comes to roof windows... Does anyone knows how to explain SW that a window is to be put on a non-vertical wall (roof), or that an object that is not a window should pierce the wall?

Hmmm? sad

Re: How to insert a roof window?

Until now, a wall can be only vertical and Sweet Home 3D doesn't know anything about roofs (even if it can handle ceilings).
So, only workarounds are possible. One could be to transform a wall with a window as a roof part with a window:
- draw a wall at the same size as the roof part you want
- place a window in the wall (for example the fixed window)
- eventually change the textures of the wall
- select the wall and the window(s)
- choose 3D view > Export to OBJ format menu item to save the selection in an OBJ file
- import the exported OBJ file, and rotate it if needed at the second step of the furniture import wizard.

Hope you can handle it smile

I have used this wounderful program for one month now and I think I have found an other simple workaround for the roof-problem:
I only use triangle - windows with the special width of the roof and the breakwall texture and that's the results:

Sorry for my english, but my nativ language is german.
