Print detail of plans

Hello,
I would like to congratulate everyone involved in this project. I think SweetHome is great.
1) I have implemented a building within its grounds. So the building is relatively small compared to the whole area implemented. Now I would like to have the floor plan of just the building when printing the plans. Is there a way to print a selected areea of the plans?
2) Is there a quick way to place the virtual visitor by clicking on a point?
3) I want to switch the external looking of the building. Say I want to go from brick walls to white paint. Is there a quick way to preselect (wall category) all external walls?

Thanks,

Pablo

Re: Print detail of plans

all right, I am out of luck, I guess.

1) It would be nice if you include among the formats to print a large one, like A0. BTW the custom format does not seem to work, at least on Linux

4) Is there a way to make the font (with the room area and name) larger?
5) Is there a way to get a list of rooms with their square footage (surface)?

4: Yes, check the menu buttons, or read the User Guide.
5: No, unless you program a plug-in.

Re: Print detail of plans

For 1), although you cannot print only part of the plan, a workaround may be to export the plan to SVG format (right clicking on it) and then open the SVG file with some vectorial drawing application.

I did a test with a small room inside a big room and opened the SVG with CorelDraw. I had to draw some squares to make clipping/intersections with the drawing in order to remove the undesired parts, since it's exported as a single object, but I finally kept the interior room only.

Re: Print detail of plans

Another simple approach would be to select everything but the undesired parts, copy and then paste in a new document just for printing.

Re: Print detail of plans

hal9000, I thought your first option, even before you suggested it, but my knowledge of SVG is null, and my building is quite complex. However your second suggestions works well. It is a bit of work, but it will do.

4. I am sorry, I have done both and still I cannot figure it out.
5. I'll check into it.

Thank you very much to both for your prompt responses.

Well, you don't have to know about SVG, simply open the resulting file and edit it with some vector editing software.

Any way, if you want to try the second option, I'm thinking that probably there are more things to keep than to remove on your design, so a better approach than the one I suggested above, would be to make a copy of your design to another file (just in case) and then open the copy, select every undesired part and delete it, keeping the parts you want to print.
