Repetitive building blocks

Reading through the list of improvements and fixes of the 6.3 version it got me wondering. Specifically the import of models using repetitive elements. I noticed the program runs very slow (at my end at least) when i'm using the simplest geometrical element like the box, to create a more complex (sometimes see-through) block or unit. Which in repetition (above a few tens or so units it all comes to a halt) can be used for varied wall structures. To give it a tridimensional texture. (Yes, similar to the textile blocks of FLW).

Could this benefit from the same improvements? Perhaps there is room for improvement in the future? Solutions to how to design the block so it runs faster? It's just the sheer number of elements (and facets) or something more to it that hogs the system? It makes any difference for how fast the program runs if there's one single unit repeated or if they were all unique?

Re: Repetitive building blocks

Which operating system do you use?
Very old computer?
What is the file size?
Are you using the standard box?
If texture applied, what size is it?

Win7/32bit, just an old AMD Athlon x2 with 4GB RAM. Using the standard box to start with, always with an eye for model size. No texture for the blocks, and reaching in model size somewhere in between 15 and 60.

Re: Repetitive building blocks

@Puybaret, never went there before. But they seem to be working just fine. They're fairly light on objects though.
